Embroidered New Year Greetings by Megan Whitmarsh

Our main, re-occurring new year's resolution has always been to improve our misty communicational skills. So we will not dwell in the past and distract you, dear reader, with lengthly descriptions of how the Post Digital Monsters invaded La Gaîté lyrique or memories of our first, accompanying Character Walk in Paris, no, instead we'll try to greet 2012 with a newsflash that aims to get straight to the point:

1) Pictoplasma Berlin Festival - April 11 - 15 /// Early Bird Offer extended:
The deadline for you to hop onto the Early Bird wagon has been pushed back by a few days to the 18th of January! That leaves you with just the right amount of time to snap into action, secure your ONLINE TICKET for a 5 day character overdose, and save 70 Euros.

If you don't know what we're talking about, blame it on the failed communication attempts of 2011 and head over to http://berlin.pictoplasma.com where you'll find all the details on the upcoming Pictoplasma Berlin Festival, the growing conference speaker line-up, the animation screenings, the accompanying character walk exhibitions - plus many more greatness all stacked up up to form the world's brightest celebration of contemporary character design and art.

2) Call for entries: Animation Festival
One main ingredient of the Festival are the eye-opening animation screenings, for which we - as always - rely on you! Please share your latest excursions into the wondrous world of characters in motion. The last possible date for your animation entry to reach us and be added to the big screen mix is February, the 1st. All information of where to send what - as long as it's accompanied by a valid entry form - can be found here!

3) Call for entries: Pictoplasma Residency
As the official kick-off event of the festival, the Character Walk leads all attendees and the general public through more than 20 galleries, project spaces and art institutions throughout the centre of Berlin, all displaying exhibitions, installations and group-shows of outstanding international contemporary character design. Once more we and our friends at 'General Public' have reserved a very special space in the heart of the happening for the most surprising and convincing character related exhibition proposal. It could be yours, if your concept reaches us by 1st of February. You'll find all details here...

That's it for the to-the-point, stream-lined and efficient transfer of information.

In the next newsletter we'll fall back into old habits and endlessly elaborate on how you'll be rubbing shoulders with speakers, contributing artists and revisiting friends such as Joshua Ben Longo, Punga, Nathan Jurevicius, Raymond Lemstra, Julia Pott or Andy Remeter, get lost on your way between endless exhibitions varying from tangible delights to digital nightmares, dive deep into audio visual performances and all night parties and possibly take part in strange and bewildering rituals…

Have a great new year everyone,

peter and lars
