The Pictoplasma Academy is a new exciting programme for further education and exchange, suitable for anyone who wants to expand their practise in a specific field related to the creation of characters – whether as illustrators, animation filmmakers, fine artists, or graphic, fashion, and product or toy designers. The 8-day intensive course will be supervised by tutors Rilla Alexander and Nathan Jurevicius. They will be joined by a team of internationally acclaimed artists who will pass on their skills in insightful lectures and hands-on workshops right across the media spectrum.

The Pictoplasma Academy 2014 offers a limited number of participants selected upon application the unique opportunity to refine their own projects and ideas, expand their skills, and further develop their character-driven work.

From freehand-drawing classes to the creation of a complete character bible, from the sculpting and molding of vinyl toys to character driven story-telling and animation: Daily workshops challenge participants to bring their creation to various media, understand a diverse range of technics and tools, work out the visual essence and refine the conceptual framework. Additional guest lecturers give inspiring incentives to the group, while further panels offer insight on additional aspects such as copyright, promotion and production.

BRING YOUR CHARACTER DESIGN TO THE NEXT LEVEL

Essential part of the experience is the lively exchange in the group, with further cultural programmes such as animation screenings and museum excursions. Most of all, the Pictoplasma Academy aims to help you push your personal project to the next level and find the strategic path to connect with key partners for its further development. Last, but not least, all participants will be invited to present their work to a professional, international and interested audience in a group exhibition as a central part of the upcoming Pictoplasma Festival 2015.

With a steady stream of master-classes, hands-on workshops and adventurous excursions, the Berlin Pictoplasma Academy is set to deliver tons of inspiration and the unique chance to professionalise under the close guidance of today's most prolific creatives. The deadline for applications is July 20. The Academy's tutors will review all applications during the last week of July. Selected applicants will be notified by early August.
